As an educator that supports other educators and a mom of elementary age kids, August is the busiest month of the year for me. I’m busy finalizing curricula, preparing workshops and answering questions left and right. I’m also busy buying school supplies, planning for new routines and cleaning/organizing so we have a good start to the year. So for this August Reading Wrap-up, I am super happy that I read FOUR books this month, three of which are for spooky season.

What I Read
- The Undead Truth of Us by Britney S. Lewis: A YA novel that explores love and zombies. Pub Date: Aug. 9, 2022. Check out my Blog Tour stop: Review: The Undead Truth of Us
- The Weight of Blood by Tiffany D. Jackson: Ms. Jackson continues to reign in the Teen Horror category with this horror story that uses Carrie as a mentor text. Definitely add this one to your spooky season TBR. You can do Dinner + Book + Movie! Review coming soon! Check out my review of White Smoke while you are waiting Pub Date: Sept. 6, 2022
- The Witchery by S. Isabelle: This book had the essence of The Craft, the camaraderie of Girlfriends and a little sprinkle of The Worst Witch in it. Pub Date: July 26, 2022
- Ain’t That a Mother: Postpartum, Palsy, and Everything in Between by Adiba Nelson: Loved this audiobook! So thankful that Ms. Nelson shared her life and experiences so that other women, particularly Black women, have a chance to see experiences about love and motherhood shared by one of their own. Currently Reading:
A Taste of Magic by J. Elle : Loving this foodie infused book about a middle schooler who gets to attend a secret magic academy! Pub Date: Aug. 30, 2022
