If I had a chance, I would use this as performative literature with a group of kindergarteners or 1st graders. The repeating lines are easy to memorize and there is a ton of action to engage in throughout the book. 

The layers built into Today is For You! through the illustrations make this a fun book to read again and again as children notice different things each time. You can focus, on activities, shapes, numbers and more! This is really a celebration of childhood and joyful energy. 

📣Who’s in Charge? By Stephanie Allan & Jenny Klion, illustrated by Marissa Valdez

Who’s in Charge? is an energetic book that will teach young readers about body autonomy. It’s a great way to kick off a conversation about using your voice to create boundaries, and how to let others know that they must respect your personal space. 

Set up in a question and response format, it will be easy to get your young readers participating in this read aloud experience. It’s an age-appropriate approach to getting kids to speak up about protecting their bodies. 

The illustrations are gorgeous and colorful. Positivity bounces off the pages as readers are asked about different parts of their bodies. A great read for pre-k to 1st grade readers.
